And I think back then I read about 15-20 people in the US die a year from this. Apparently it only takes 2 breaths of the stuff.

I was using the mig a long time ago and had brake cleaner sitting on the cart when an old welder friend of my dad came in. He saw it and told me about it. I looked on the can and sure enough there was a warning for it. I went home and googled it and found this: CHLORINATED HYDROCARBON SOLVENTS Various chlorinated hydrocarbons are used in degreasing or other cleaning operations. The vapors of these solvents are a concern in welding and cutting because the heat and ultraviolet radiation from the arc will decompose the vapors and form highly toxic and irritating phosgene gas. (See Phosgene.) PHOSGENE Phosgene is formed by decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents by ultraviolet radiation. It reacts with moisture in the lungs to produce hydrogen chloride, which in turn destroys lung tissue. For this reason, any use of chlorinated solvents should be well away from welding operations or any operation in which ultraviolet radiation or intense heat is generated.

In the 90s I worked for a computer company and we would connect peoples networks to high speed internet when it was just coming out. I set this one guys network up in his home office and this is all he did all day, traded currency. Some kind of way he changed money online when some currencies were going down and others were going up. It appeared to be pretty lucrative as he had a 2 story house on the water, 2 new benzs sitting out front and a 38' boat docked out back.

I think its because of the chlorine.

Be very careful with using mig gas with high heat with brake cleaner= mustard gas. Not sure about with brake fluid.

I had these on an old british car with no power assist. Aren't the pistons small on these?- 59 replies

By the way, if you have a chance buy a used one. I turned down the opportunity to buy a used one for &50. It looked way better than the new one. I guess someone else already did all the filling on it.

Just got my msa airdam in Thursday. What a POS. The gelcoat had star cracks in about half a dozen places. Chips all over it. Looks like some punk kids threw rocks at it all day long. The fitment was able to be tweaked to be good enough, but nowhere near perfect. Some spots will have to be grinded down and filled to make things line up decently. They said its fiberglass parts, that's how they are. What they should have said was that's how THEIR fiberglass parts are. They did offer me a refund as long as I paid the shipping back. I've bought fiberglass parts for other cars in the past and they were about perfect. I asked if they would put a disclaimer on their website for these saying they come rough and finishing is required.

Can you make a review of the parts, to maybe keep others from getting bad parts if that's the case?

Use .023 with gas, only way to go. Use a heatsink on the back whenever possible.

I think I would go with a coyote motor if going the DOHC route, just because of guaranteed parts availability in the future. -
Anyone have experience with DatsunZFiberglass.com

On his Facebook page he said he has over 400 orders for datsun parts. If he's legit, you would think parts reviews would start surfacing soon. -
We last listened to them a few weeks ago.. NPR must be playing reruns because he sure didn't sound like he had alzheimers.

tried to bleed brakes 6H later still no luck
socorob replied to gacksen's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ive always just used 4 pieces of small clear tubing going into a cup at each wheel. I did my car by myself and didn't even have to pump the pedal. Just barely crack the bleeders and go work on something else for awhile. This os assuming all your bleeders are in the highest location. -
I ran the drainhose around to the front where the factory AC drainhole was. It's been getting down into the 50s here at night, but I haven't had a chance to try the heat yet. I pulled the hatch off and most of the windows out getting it ready for paint.
-
Same here. The hot part of summer was over by the time I got it in and working. Just make sure these things are level or they will fill your car with water.
-
The compac fits too if you're in a hotter climate and want more AC. I installed that one since I'm in the humid gulf south. By the time I had it installed temps weren't going past the high 80s but after it cooled the car down, low speed was keeping it cold. The 2 caveats to installing the larger unit are you have to cut 1 screw shorter that holds one of the lower dash supports on(or just use a shorter bolt), and it has to fit a little off center towards the drivers side (which means the passenger gets a little less AC to the feet).I'm sure either works better than the Datsun AC. That thing had pathetic air flow.

Have you tried to gravity bleed them to see how much comes through? -
Every time I go to the junkyard I pull the ones off the windshield cowls of 90s Hondas. They screw instead of push so easier to reuse. They worked in my taillights. I will be starting to put the interior back in in a couple weeks and let you know how they fit inside the car.

Thanks. It's amazing how much time little things can take up.
