I know Tony I wish you were here so I could just pay you to get my set up right. I have been looking at MS maps to try to get a ball park safe range. So far I am still running and fighting boost leaks.

You can do a search, but if I remember right somewhere in 04 they made the switch. There is a sticker on it with numbers but the one I have the ink on the sticker got rubbed off I think cd009. So 05 and up you are good

Thanks for the response. I am going to look into an after market kill switch wired to oil pressure. Not to hijack the thread, I have enjoyed reading about the swap..

Will this work for the 300zx ECU . I have a l28et with a re mapped z32 ECU and it is "hot wired" would like to run it to the ECU . thanks ..

I know this an old thread but very informative. I also have read where every engine is different so there is no best but I am looking for some ball park numbers. have had a hard time finding information on base AFR to tune to. I have a remapped 300zx ECU, 420cc injectors and IC, Borg Warner turbo, Forged pistons. I can only adjust for AFR through my fuel pressure regulator. I am running very rich like 10-10.5 @ 17psi (up from 9 and a smoke screen). Idle is around 13 afr and cruise is around 15. My fuel pressure is around 36 PSI at idle with no vacuum to the regulator. (I understand 36psi is stock ) Would say 30 PSI be safe to try to get the AFR down? Would a target Afr of 12.5-13 under full boost (17 psi) be safe ? Thanks ' Dan

how do you feel your engine swap changes the character of your Z?

Ya if i could change out my l28et for a modern LS, no fumes and turn key i would be all over it but $$ kinda holds me back plus I still dream of an XKE...I think thats what Mr. K had in mind just at a fraction of the cost.. -
260z, suby lsd, wolf creek adaptors, driveline bind/popping noise, HELP!
malibud replied to evoog's topic in Drivetrain
I am no expert but this what happened to me ... I hit the axles with a hammer to get in. one would not go in, I hit it harder and no go .. then I Put the axle and diff in a press and it went in. Then I had the same problem you are describing kinda like drive a truck in 4x4 on dry pavement. Took the diff out brought it to my guy who rebuild a lot of sti diffs for people all over. Turns out I broke the C clip when i put it in press . the clip fell into the gear and locked it . the diff acted a if it was welded. got lucky no damage . it still whines I think because I did not cut enough off of the RT mount ...hope this might drop some insight- 14 replies

That's some good info Bernardd. These guys defiantly know more than me. But stock engine at 300 hp that's pretty amazing. I have only had my turbo 240z for a little over a year. Now trying to dial in a a new borg warner EFR turbo and electronic boost controller . Flat tops and turbo does not work well from what I understand ? seems like detonation..but quick spool And the trans I understand is good for 350ish ? Side note: What cam and head work did you have done ? Who did it ? Approx cost ? thanks I have a n42 head that has been ported unknown cam. Thinking about maybe switching cams

no that really doesn't apply to marine. Looks like everyone wants one..

In the end its probaly worth it to save up enough to get a west coast car. I had one shipped from CA to NC for about 900.

How to actually buy a car from an american seller
malibud replied to Villeman's topic in Non Tech Board
Ok. I have bought cars on the west coast and had them shipped to the east. Once I wired i guy in japan 5500 for a car in cal. Trust is a big issue . I also sold a z car to a guy in Greece. Kinda of pain in the ass took about a month or two and I certainly could have it sold locally much quicker with cash in hand. But I felt like I had been in his same shoes calling people in the west coast trying to get a rust free car sent here while fending off the locals there. So with that said I am hoping to have a clear title in a few weeks on an early 71 240z very solid with only 1-2 places that are bubbling. I figure I should be worth 5-6 k maybe a little more on ebay. But if I have to go through trouble shipping over seas it will have to be taxed . That is a lot of emails, photos, videos, and paper work to deal with. Funny story it was a Tenn title when it got to Greece the port authority would not release the car. 2 numbers on the title did not match the vin, many more phone calls and emails and a new title was issued. Everyones happy but it added a lot of work to an would be easy sale . -
bump thanks

I think that looks pretty good, I hope to get mine tuned in the near future. I am running a similar set up. except with a BW turbo and a Jim Wolf ECU. I would be happy with those numbers. You are over a 10% weight to HP ratio which makes for a fun ride. If you dont mind what did it cost for dino/ tunning time? I will let ya'll know what my numbers are for comparison ...

That looks good on the compression. mine were around 105 +- 5psi hot and varied more when cold

I have air box maybe linkage
