  1. Don't buy a bike from Big Phil. Â Have you seen what he does on them!
  2. Yeah that front end graft came out great! Â Probably stronger than stock too. Â The muffler I used is the from the premium 2.5" set from MSA. Â It's a Dynomax center in-side out muffler and it does not look like it would fit up in the quarter panel cheek space, but it does if you tilt it at about a 20 degree angle or so, looking from the back. Â You can run your hand all the way around my muffler the way it's tucked now. Â I really like the idea of the flex joint...manifold gasket saver and cut down on exhaust system vibrations. Â Maybe I'll copy that idea next Spring. Â
  3. One end of the muffler has a middle port and the other end has an offset port. Â I think you have it reversed.
  4. Definitely see improvements in the show. Â My wife actually likes it but not as much as the Brit version of course.
  5. The trouble is, I am starting to believe that everyone IS out to get me...maybe that's a good thing. Â Â
  6.   Might be too late but you can flip that MSA tail muffler end to end and get it really tucked away tightly. I wish they included directions with their kit.  Took me a few tries to get it in the right spot. No rubbing at all like this. Car looks awesome!
  7. Â Check for 12volts at the coil + when the key is in the run position. Â If it's not, then you know why it wont run. I am not sure, but it is entirely possible that the 12v was feeding through the tach circuit. Â Another possibility is that you knocked some connectors loose under the dash.Â
  8. Thus guy is probably legally blind. Â Nothing else would explain that.Â
  9. Nice to have friends with trailers! Â I thought that was a great deal as well. Â Hope we never need it to get back from a track day!Â
  10. "Sold it? Never haha. What made you think that?" -Aziza http://forums.hybrid...post__p__651709 Â Â Â
  11. I wasn't joking about weights and a vise.
  12. Â You can make more than 300hp (intercooled) with the stock cam, intake, and porting, just to clarify. Â It just begins to get harder and harder (read inefficient) after that. Â Not only because of the cam. Â Free breathing exhaust, no fueling or timing limitations, decent intercooling, and boost, are the main ingredients needed in the 300-400hp range. Â Stock cam and long block will do.Â
  13. Â Yeah double and triple protection of newly painted fenders is a must. Â Old fenders are easy on the back. Â Just plant your elbows wherever you like when you lean into the bay. Â Looking great David. Â I love the overindulgence of plated hardware. Â I told Clive your new nickname will be "GoldenNuts". Â
  14. Â Â Weights, broom handle, hose clamps, vise, and a calculator. Â The broom handle and clamps are optional if the handle on your wrench is long enough to hang the weights, or you don't have a lot of weight.. You can use a pail of water. Â Test a few different weights to check the full range of use. Â Use locktite, cotter pins, or wire, on critical bolts. Torque = Force x Distance
  15. A lot of what I would recommend depends on the rest of the cars condition and your short and long term goals for the car.  Nice pictures by the way. I wish sellers would take photos like that, BEFORE they sell a "rust free" car to someone.    If you are going to a shop, I am teetering towards the full floor pan replacement route.  Full replacement would probably be just as much labor as patchwork, with a better end result.Â
  16. Exhaust velocity at the tailpipe might also be at play here. Â I find that you get MUCH more stink when driving at part and low throttle. Â I think that at high engine loads, the exhaust stream is fast enough to get mostly out past the tail-wake. Â When the exhaust is moving slowly, it gets mixed into the tail-wake and swirls around the rear quarter of the car..
  17. Traditionally I have made post #2. Â Happy Thanksgiving!
  18. Nice build. Â I think I can use that same build sheet for my car, minus half a handful of items. Â Â How do you like the ACT 6-puck? I got tired of mine and went with a larger diameter street clutch from ACT. Â Much more driveable on the street...well DUH.
  19. Yes they were aftermarket. Â MSA used to sell them. Â I am not sure if they still do or where to get them. Â I made my own simply by cutting out the center area of the lid and installing a screen. Â Not glamorous but effective.
  20. Vented how? Â Custom made or the aftermarket louvered ones?
  21. Â Of course I like the British version more, but I still hope that the show continues, and continues to improve. Â What the heck else is there to watch on TV???Â
  22. Â Â Â Â Â Tony I agree, and I state that sheepskin society refers to them as such, because of the lack of a college or graduate degree, but such are often smarter and more motivated than the latter in reality. Â Not at all meant as a pejorative. Â Quite the opposite really. Â I more often seek advice, from the experienced machinist, cutting the steel, than from the degreed design engineer, prior to completing a design. Â It takes both views to complete the plan. Â Really sad when so much credence is blindly placed on a piece of paper, and a person is put on a pedestal, fabricated solely of certified books that have been checked off and stacked. Â Â Â Â I am the first in a long generation of family to get a college degree, and I see the merits of one, but the last thing I would do is derogate a hard working man or woman. Â You don't know me and I can't expect anyone to read my words and know exactly what I mean but you missed my message.Â
  23. Â Â I have only a measly BSME but I have helped ME Graduate's with their homework. Â It's sad to see what some students DON'T learn, but still get the "right to practice" because of the sheepskin. Â Â Sadder still to see the supposed "grease monkey", with more intelligence and motivation than the decorated graduates, struggling to "make it". Â
