  1. what i want-engine to dyno around 400 rwhp -but with a very flat torque curve-with turbo boost very early.engine i have is a 3l stroker with ported n42 head.car has megasquirt efi with 42lb injectors and big intercooler.the cam thats in it now has to go-its to big and boost is late.the turbo is a 60-1/stage 5 t3 .the changes i am thinking of-new ball bearing garret turbo,extrude honed exhaust manifold,custom ground cam.looking for a car that drives like a v8 with good gas mileage on freeway.anybody have a setup like this?

  3. since my car is a bodywork in progress i can wait for the full write up no problem.this testing will decide what body parts are installed on my car since i am not into bling.funny thing about msa donating some parts-but some parts with cosmetic rejects work just fine for testing.are we looking for the z that rolls 150mph with 2 fingers on the steering wheel?i had a night job for awhile and i used to run my z 140+ sometimes at night on freeway-its a drive with both hands thing even though it was aligned by my on $45k hunter alignment rack.i have a boat fabrication/carbon fiber fab shop 3 miles from my house and i am friends with owner-might have to make some molds up for a complete package after what really works is sorted out.
  4. when i used to work as a tech at a ford dealer(funny but i am unemployed now)we had to access the net for ford tech info.had to sign a sheet that was inserted in our personnel file saying we would be fired for unauthorized use of dealership computor.all computor use was monitored.putting anything personal on somebody else's computor(your employer's)just opens up a can of worms.i value my privacy.i leave my cell phone in my van at work.another thing big corporations are good for is firing people so they dont have to pay benefits or vacation time.
  5. my ms system works good -but the amount of research it took (reading on the internet)added up to a lot of time.i tore my car apart and upgraded other systems to make sure the ms would work with the bigger motor.but my car is a daily driver now.any efi system will have trouble if the supporting systems(steady voltage,good grounds,good fuel pressure and volume)are not up to spec.
  6. i would guess more cfm than standard efi intake.would be a very interesting way of curing driveability problems on old 240.
  7. i got some an to gm adaptors from kinsler and use high pressure gm filter-because you can get 1 cheap on a sunday
  8. air filt is under cold side ic pipe.pipe is aluminum from recalls on ford diesel pu.air filter pipe is same-used to work at ford dealer and kept free stuff.
  9. 4 wire 02-grey is signal,both white wires are heater circuit,black is ground-you should just step up to wide band o2 system

  12. his dad used to run a machine shop in oakdale ca before he got into racing.i had a engine rebuilt there.great people-sad to hear about that.
  13. if the noise goes away in 4th you have a countershaft bearing problem
  14. in the ford off road race trucks they are using 351w based engines bored & stroked to 427.ford 351 has taller deck than sb chevy.so unless you need a 500+ cube motor the 351w based motor will power a light car very well.351w parts are almost as common as chevy parts.
  15. with that kind of build cam timing should be checked and verified with a degree wheel on the crank-verified against cam card packed with cam.
  16. the local nascar hobby guys use very light low trailers with no springs-they tie the car down with harnesses around the wheels and the car suspension soaks up the bumps.these are built to fit just that 1 car.there is a tire rack over the car hood.but not good for other gp type uses.flat deck style 16' car trailer(the ready made kind at trailer sales places)is good if you want it for other uses -like hauling rented tractors & stuff.problem is you will probably need longer ramps built.i have seen a few 16' flat deck trailers used around here for around $800.there are specialized aluminum trailers built for hauling collector cars with low deck =bucks.mine is built from old 1 axle boat trailer-not user friendly but not used much so it doesnt matter.a thought-build trailer with air bag springs and dropped axles-if the trailer deck was low enough you wouldnt need ramps.some trailers put a lot of feedback into the truck from bumps-this gets annoying on long trips.it just depends on if you want a dedicated trailer for the z or something for other uses.
  17. any school is worth it if the program has good recognition and you land a job that you like when its over.i wouldnt save some bucks to get into nascar over possably landing an f1 job.
  18. went for a llttle 400 mile ride on baja last week on my 1987 honda xr 600.had a great time even riding solo.went from san felipe to bahia de los angeles -back through coco's corner and gonzaga bay.this is a gonzaga bay sunrise
  19. 283vz-race moved to ensenada-i wont be going there.i think i am still going to san felipe to ride my xr and relax for a week.-prerunners-i was checkin out terrible herbst prerunners-same frame-just a truck with a mellowed out engine and a fully equipped cab.i ran into them prerunning once.they had a refrigerated box built into the huge console for drinks.plus a huge gps system that was probably logging maps of shortcuts while they were driving.score came out with rule you must be within 50' of the course.i guess some team honda guys got busted on the 1000 last year.
  20. must be getting old -poor memory correct part # on hall effect is cherry # mp100502= digikey #ch708-nd.i put this in last summer.motor is out because i blew it up.built stroker motor-now i have to calibrate to new crank shaft.
  21. sensor is made by cherry part#mp100701 magnets are cherry #as101001 sourced from digikey-the recommended parts source on http://www.msefi.com.there is a 1.5k pull up resistor soldered in under the tape and connector is a gm weatherpack .magnet is housed in an aluminum holder with #8 screw stud on back .i cut off the stud and drilled holes in flywheel 60btdc and every 120 degrees.i used a degree wheel on the crank to get the holes centerpunched correctly .after running engine i had to adjust offset 6 degrees-offset is at 52 degrees and timiing is showing up on timing light as programmed.the magnets are glued into flywheel with jb weld.my ms directly fires the zxt power transistor/coil .everything is wired direct to relay board .

  23. i am going to have to try this.my el cheapo plastic grainger valve doesnt work that good.thats why my engine is out right now.gave me an excuse to build 2960 stroker engine.
