well if the intake air is really warm, you'd need something to cool it down at a 10:1 compression, no? isn't the oxygen from water colder than the oxygen from atmospheric intake, unless somehow intercooled through a cold air ram pipe, or great Canadian weather? LOL unless the water is located in an area that is in direct heat, i think it would help keep the intake temps down, which would help with detonation issues at 10:1 in a hot climate with 93 octane.

pretty darn stout! 11 bucks for that alu is not a bad deal either. however your car is so nice that I think you should have a second go at making one that has a bit better finish quality to it. but that thing looks like it can survive a meteor strike

go through the voltage diagnostics check using a mutli-meter. ive repaired and modified a megasquirt v3.0 to reboot and use a vw ignition on a hyundai with never even seeing the car. the trick is to follow instructions on the repair guide located on the website. if it doesnt boot, i think it's most likely the 16 pin IC near com port, just north of the proto area , at the top left of the CPU. this integrated circuit (chip, as they're commonly known) is for the power circuit. I had the same problem, and did a switch to a new one and it worked fine. it seems as though the person who tried to wire it up before made an error and shorted wires that fried the IC. I believe that's the one: good luck!

heheh, my father came down to see my rickety old pile of scrap metal (the z in my garage), and he was like "this was the car i wanted to buy but it was too much!" so he got a fiat spyder 850 instead. HA, I gotses what he wantses!

wondering if anyone has more information on this swap/thread topic. I have access to one for cheap, and my RB is going to be N/A and only making about 280 - 300 hp. So It should be able to handle it without too much trouble. Just wondering if anyone knows where to look on how to get it working. (i searched, obviously, or i wouldnt have found this thread... but any more direction is a good thing for all of us that compile our info here) =) Raff. - oh and happy fathers day to the lucky dads!

exhaust manifold adapter for Rb25/20det
Careless replied to greenmonster80's topic in Nissan RB Forum
well if you run two head flange adapters, you would probably have to use two gaskets, as they woud ultimately warp due to heat buildup, and wouldn't seat well. to make it easier just modify the steering arm. it can still be a bolt on affair, and if he intends to keep the car in as good shape as you do, then if it ever breaks or happens to deteriorate, he should then take it to someone who can modify another one or fix the current one that should be modified. my 2.1 canadian pennies. -
Anyone ever considered using the new Chevy 4.2 (I6)?
Careless replied to a topic in 6 Cylinder Z Forums
i think he means to say that almost all honda's sport-inspired engines are inline, with the exception of the NSX series C32 engines. therefore "nuff said" meaning, the statement he quoted was debunked. not sure if i agree with either statement, as both were very vague to begin with. -
anyone consider tiger japanese? http://www.tigerjapanese.com/ This month's special (featured on their site) includes free customs, 10% off shipping, and a lot of other money savers.

My custom guages and display: new project!
Careless replied to OlderThanMe's topic in Fabrication / Welding
well would any motor work? because I could probably pick up a bunch of them for OTM if my dad can find them. He could also recommend certain kinds too. Stepper motors are just electronically controlled to move a certain amount of degrees depending on the pulse width, and if you controlled it properly you could have the "off-throttle" input bring the guage back exactly the same amount of degrees you had moved the guage forward in total. But i think that's too much of a difficult circuit to compile, especially using regular IC's. I'd much rather do it fully digital if possible and use like a programmable IC of some sort. -
might get Arias RB25/30 combo pistons. they have a 13cc dome. Ideally, Id want a 16cc dome for my 10.5:1 compression ratio though. my engine builder still needs to get my engine and my bits and pieces to check my clearances again (im doing it myself to compare first). and then he will use all the stock rods and pistons to check what he can get JE to do for me.

so it's just a high speed stepper motor? my dad has tons of those -
email didnt transfer and digital camera in my neighbours truck. but i checked all the con rod and thrust bearing clearance today, and recorded them for my machinist to double check. SPOT ON

ughhhh. ill post some phone pictures of the spool rods, kay? EDIT: Tomorrow =) i like suspense, so you like suspense and i gotta go to work early.

... my garage picked up this bad boy today. gonna take some pics later. loving it already though. the crank rotates and is smooth enough to be forced by hand with a bit of elbow-grease. front sump pan and pickup came on it too =) got my connecting rods from SPOOL over the weekend. Now i wait for my RB26 to come so i can make things happen. in the mean time, i'm going to get the block tested and such ASAP, or else i can't swap it with another one in this shipment, and i'll have to get one from the next shipment to exchange it with (highly recommend my source, great young guys who are just out to help a brotha, no bullshit kinda guys) i took off the oil pan for an inspection and there seems to be a bit of rust haze forming on the cast iron parts, but nothing any 22 year old engine wouldn't have. also came with a bosch replacement alternator and power steering pump (to drive my S14 power rack). So far so good. I like how this summer is going. i'm spending a bit too much on this thing, but it feels good =). After pictures tomorrow (cant get to the engine stand in the other garage, another car in the way), ill come in and post them, with some pics of the spool rods and head flanges that i'm thinking of having copied for all us RB guys if you want to make your own exhaust manifold (i have to, since it's an N/A RB30/26DE). Raff ps. - lifting these iron ingots with only two people is one hell of a chore. and if that's not bad enough, the worst almost happened when i was in the car. I almost got paralyzed by a flying engine block. we had dropped the engine block onto a sheet of plywood in the hauler Previa we use as a base for all our scrap metal hunting. some bright mother-♥♥♥♥♥♥ decided to cut into our lane, going around a double-length bus at a stop. No biggie.. just keep driving, right? Wrong. It's a green and buddy comes to a FULL stop. My room mate slams the breaks, engine SCREAAAAAAAMS across the plywood like a rabid bulldog, headed straight for the back of my seat. I'm doomed. The RB30 suddenly digs into the plywood with a sharp end of the head surface and does a 200 degree spin into the door, and rips a nice hole into the door side-panels. I later used my fist to give myself a light punch in the back of the seat, and i realized that there's not much there. I seriously would have had my spine fracture into a million. long live le Ahr-Beeh, and I'm glad to be typing this out to you folks with my own fingers, rather than voice-to-text, sitting in a bed sipping pea soup. Funny thing too, the Previa got sold today aswell, despite "Sheet Tree" and his sidekick, "El Dooro" from the Home Depot tribe coming to my rescue. HAHA.

RB Z in June Super Street Magazine
Careless replied to markrolston@mac.com's topic in Nissan RB Forum
got my copy! the article is written in classic super street pilgrim style, but it's a nice article nonetheless. -
the last update i made essentially went something like "if you want it, i can tell you of someone who can get one for you" however, it will be expensive, and it will be hard to ship to US too, because most things come to the same place here in Ontario first, shipped over from BC.

My custom guages and display: new project!
Careless replied to OlderThanMe's topic in Fabrication / Welding
hmm, the servos are really that loud eh? what kind of motors do they use in production guages? i'd assume they're coil wound or something to allow them to snap back quickly -
There you go again, thinking about male tooshies...

Most pumps are good upto 18 volts.. 14 for extended periods of time, and 12 for regular application. I'd imagine that the 2 volts increase to 14 would be more of a problem over an extended period of time than the tank vacuum. but maybe it's just my brain spinning in circles.

CAS Trigger Wheel Fix for AEM EMS Released
Careless replied to underground's topic in Nissan RB Forum
it's more of a high-rpm issue, if anything. atleast that's what i've read by ppl on the calais turbo and sau forums, regarding ALL ems systems, not just AEM. Some ROM edited Nissan RB ecu's have modifications to get it to run with a modified wheel aswell. it's a belt stretch issue, and was a proven problem with some data graphing which I cant remember about right now. eliminating the amount of holes makes the CAS rely on less holes to calculate it's timing, so the belt doesnt play as big a role. on whatever graph it was, it became apparent that changing it made immediate improvements in the scattering of high and low points on the line, at high rpm. im not talking small improvements either. i'm talking from huge zig-zags covering about double and half the height of the current grid point within the increase of only 10 rpm. that line smoothed out pretty darn nicely when they changed the wheel over and made modifications to the EMS system's way of handling the whole thing. if i wasnt hung-over, i would start searching for the thread, but maybe Ron can explain it better, or who'sa-what'sis name from wherever he's coming from whenever he gets here. but lets put it this way, if it didnt make a difference, i would have no idea what this thread was about, and i wouldnt have bothered reading the other thread from whatever other forum it was on. But i read it, and i know part of what the problem is and why AEM is releasing it. except i can't really say more than it's a high-rpm belt stretch issue =/ -
you know, the saying goes "people see what they want to see" and i saw a knee. and you saw a...... *starts shaking head* LOL

i resent that! i have a car and it's in automotive limbo, much like many of the zees on planet earth =( LOL.. anyways, i like those gauges, they're pretty darn coolz -
hmmmm... reading over the skyline chassis dimension thread, and reading over the lack of updates here... i think Hugo is getting a new set of legs, in addition to the rear stomper's he's got already. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING MULLEY'BWOY!?? =)
