wow, good to see others with really sweet setups. i too believe that the s130 is next in the up and coming catagory. my dd currently has about 10.8:1 cr. which is pretty much as high as i found 94 octane can go with the z motors. well at least running higher than stock timing. i had 11.8:1, but its just too much for street gas. im using the p79 head decked about .080 thou. i also made custom tower shims to get the chain back to the correct height. my biggest project on the list is a custom intake mani. i think i got a pretty good one thought out. im too cheap to purchase the lonewolf one, even tho its a pretty nice bolt on piece. that an i gotta get started on the z31 maf swap.

its gonna be the easiest to do it with the x member outta the car, they are not easy to do. ive done it. trust me. just unbolt the diff, and shocks, brake lines, and the rear x memeber, the whole thing comes out as one big unit, then start dismantling, or do it bolted together. depends how seized they are. this is also your chance to take it apart, do the ureathane bushings and paint it up nice. grab a rear sway bar upgrade while your at it!!

How many 280zx's have YOU had? or have?
SHADY280 replied to roninjiro's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
ive had 4, the first one is the silver one, got it for 400, and i kept the 4th, bob sharp racecar look alike car. the other 2 were for parts, one was my brothers with lots of neat parts!! -
me!!!! almost race street car. and im building a road race car. you and 260det are def. serious guys, i follow lots you 2 have to say, cause your further ahead in the building process. there seems to be a small following, but nothing like the s30 groups.

the easier skidding is caused by the fact you have more negetave camber, thus causing less of a contact patch of the tire while cornering. fixing the front is easy, the back not so much anymore. go get some 225/60's, theyll stick even better. if you are just auto-xing, then spend your money on the only thing touching the ground!!! when you lower it, but the front bump steer spacers, itll help with better handling and steering input, there kinda cheap, and correct the messed up geometry.
-
hehe thats me, i got the custom front end, back end is the 79 stockers. i definatly like the creativity with the mustang lights in the rear. props to ya. im with nismo on the school bus lights, but its a cheap way to make the car different
-
sounds kinda like me, i got a 80% on that list!! and my racecar is still being built, but the street versions pretty close tho! lol. gonna have to get my lady to read that one.

well now i know what to do with my su's i was gonna throw away or sell. and my spare tb's i was storing for something. how did you do the injector bungs? weld on a efi manifold to the flange area?
-
i know the funtionallity and reasons of the tall "rice wing" but, just trying to get a feel of what kind of downfore he wants. the whale tail wing with lip produced 100 psi at 100 mph, or thats what bob sharps team said. so it did do something, but what did the hybridz team discover in the wind tunnel. i never followed that one.

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
SHADY280 replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
heres my wheels, they are boyd coddington customs, 17x9.5. running 255,40r17's v rated. i could have fit 265, but they way more per tire. also running stock height suspention, with the front lip rolled just a little at the front edge. hope that helps, sorry cant remember the offset. -
go to ratsun.net, the guys over there could tell you if it would fit. i cant remember, but someone over there has done it. the 4 banger in there is the identicle motor as ours, but without the 2 center cylinders. i have a 75 620 truck (smaller than that) and its pretty tight inside the engine bay, and theres not room to come inside the cab, just a little in the center. im 6' and dont fit well into the cab. you would have to sit in the rear king cab part, just to fit without moving the firewall. and your sport max wheels wont fit, they are 6 bolt. chevy wheels fit tho, direct bolt on. at least that year had front dics, solid not vented. hope that helps.

so you want like a rice wing or like mine. i got a whale tail low profile, but if you want something below the roof line, gonna have to be kinda ricey. use gt4 and the 280zx to get a basic idea
-
i currently run 9.5" wide 17 diameter rims with stock suspention height, no rolling or cutting required. i ft 255/40r17 on them with no problem. huge lip on either side of the centerline. i may want to purchace a set of the rims, for the bob sharp racecar, it would suit it soo much. i may just have to bit the bullet for them, how long do we have to decide b4 its too late.
-
maybe take the motor back, a huge pain i know, but then it would be done. also when re-installing it, torque it down with a proper wrench, there are specs for that on purpose. just cause its on the outside of the engine, doesnt mean it doesnt matter as much. i got a 800 ft. lb gun, but it needs huge air line to it! make sure to use a 6 point socket as well, no need to break or slip off anything

S130 specific website - checking Interest...
SHADY280 replied to xenonxiii's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
like rear camber. tranny upgrades that almost bolt in. (been covered for s30, but i know its almost the same for ours too.) diff swaps, front control arm upgrades. and i like the racing thing, roll cage info would be great, there aint much of that for the s130 chassis. like the age old question, does the jegster cage fit in the s130? seems to be asked lots around here. does anyone have hard info on it? this stuff would make great writeups on a s130 specific site. -

More pics of the new paint(not in the sun yet though, sorry!)!!!
SHADY280 replied to 80LS1T's topic in Body Kits & Paint
i really like that color, wasnt it honduh blue?, thought i read it in the other thread. keep that thing away from parking lot monsters!! i remeber my first door ding, lost it on the guy. -
ive used lots of POR-15, that stuff is even hard to gring off, its like grinding off a layer of steel. it seems to last up here im b.c. canada, but unlike alexideways, he gets the absolute most amount of snow as far as a major cdn city gets. i got myself a beater too, it just makes sense, sometimes you can even get a 200 dollar one, as long as it drives, who cares!!!
-
dude my car was 10 times worse, part of being in canada. the only parts that werent repaired were the doors and roof. everything else was cut out and properly patched on every other panel. i feel it was worth every cent of my time.

good to know, thx for the answers, and the links. i didnt know how simmilar it would be to fords system, ive done several of those now.

speaking of header design, has anyone tried to build a "180" style of header for our l6 engines? they seem to work well on chev engines.

so i was looking around jegs the other day and came across this http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_84578_-1 i was wondering if anyone has tried it? its only 314 bux, not bad for what it says it does. it sounds like the same type of lsd that ford uses on there crown vic cop cars. these take a beating and hold it together (trust me)
