  1. You would think you wouldnt need to switch the wires but you need to try and switch them if you don't get spark. Trust me and several other HybridZ bretheren that found out the hard way.
  2. Too bad he was making a left! That would have been sweet. At least we left some tire there. Camera man Tony, missed my tire smoke while looking at the AM. Can you blame him. What a nice car. The AM motor sounds better on the video than it sounded from inside my car when he was reving it.
  3. I've always had great service and pricing from Courtesy.
  4. Paul, try your hand at one of these and see if you can't help out with the old aqueduct. GREAT photos! http://www.hobby-lobby.com/twister-skylift.htm?c1=ezone&source=side&kw=skylift
  5. No he pretty much will sleep through any noise. I wonder if my growing up next to the Major Deegan expressway in the Bronx got passed on through my genes to him. Clive, tell them about the Aston Martin that we would have destroyed....had he not been taking his wife out to a fancy dinner...that was fun. Do you have the video of both of us coming off the traffic light with tires smoking?
  6. 240Z. Stripped. Replace steel parts with aluminum/carbon fiber parts wherever possible, light wheels, basic L24 built up the common N/A way, fiberglass body panels where possible, and you might get the weight down where you want it. Good Luck and keep us posted. SEARCH, this is the right place for you to be.
  7. Breaking the speed limit and the noise ordinance in front of my house! SWEET MUSIC!
  8. Yup, it was probably oil coming up the PCV valve and the left hander spilling the oil into the intake runners.
  9. I think the L series have a tendency to puke oil out of the crankcase vent during hard use. My PCV valve has kind of a loose fit into the underside of the intake manifold and the threads constantly drip oil. This tells me that the PCV valve is passing a fair amount of oil from the block vent into the intake. I stuffed a "wire mesh ball" (homemade crumpled chicken wire fence) inside the rubber tube between the block vent and PCV valve to try to "condense out" some of the oil that was traveling up the pipe. It helped a little. My intercooler pipes are bone dry inside. My valve cover vent is open to atmosphere. In your case. You have an oil catch can (or do you not?), so It must be either valve seals or turbo seal if it's only under decel.
  10. You don't know EVILC do you? He is a perpetual sandbagger I wouldn't be surprised if he doctored those charts to read 200hp low!
  11. Make certain that you are not burning brake fluid. That would be bad. Keep an eye on the water levels as well.
  12. HOLY MOLY! You just saved me $300 for the electric to mechanical converter. I am placing my order for that part now! How close does the speedo read with which pinion/rear/tires? http://www.courtesyparts.com/ sells it for $28.00 It looks like the pinions cost about $12.00 each and are available in 17,18,19,20,21, and 22 teeth Thanks Mike and ProX!!
  13. also get...tinker toys, erector sets, lincoln logs, and some AFX track!
  14. I was away from my office just now, and picked up the #2 combo meal from McDonalds on the way back. I just unwrapped the second cheeseburger. Guess what. No burger. Just cheese, onion, ketchup, and buns. Bahhhh. I'm probably better off without it anyhow. Sometimes you GOTTA wonder.
  15. Even the Space Shuttle has some flaws. Time will weed the glaring issues. Pity for those that will need to battle Nissan on the issues, but I think in the end, it will work out. I would love to see more videos.
  16. Are they using a self-aligning bearing style? These types of bearings allow articulation and should be used here if a ball-socket joint is not in use. In a self-aligning bearing, the inner race can rotate a bit, perpendicular to the axis of the bearing. Note the curve inside the outer race.
  17. Good looking seats but no, I havent bought from them before. Check out the JC Whitney seat deal in a thread here.
  18. The paint he is using on his starter is called "hammerite". It uses fisheyes to create the look of hammered metal surfaces. TRUE. We used to use it to restore old packaging machinery in a past life. The grooves in the head are oil slingers. Hey if they work on the crank, why not the combustion chamber! FALSE.
  19. Someone knows how to lay paint! Now keep the crutches AWAY from that paint and good luck with the ankle. I will NEVER forget the first time I walked into the bodyshop and saw my Z with new paint. That image NEVER leaves you.
  20. Good luck and try to envision life after the succesful operation. In tough situations, I always try to paint a picture of the scene down the road, the way I want it to be. So far it works. It will work for you.
  21. I just designed a part in Solidworks, and converted it to an engineering drawing, submitted it to my boss for his bragging rights. It's basically a simple disc with some minor features. The drawing called out the radius of the disc as 1.00". My boss just called me and said that I didn't specify the diameter of the disc, so I should redo the drawing. I chuckled and thought about adding, "NOTE: Diameter=2R" but I didn't. I erased the Radius callout, and put in a callout for the diameter of 2.00". Supposedly, he is an engineer. Hmmm.
  22. The six piston caliper is quite a bit more "stout" than the four piston unit. The six piston is a billet caliper AFAIK. Dave told me that his four piston kit is good up to about 150mph track Z cars (generically speaking).
  23. Rough Guess...since 1989 when I purchased a bone stock, excellent, factory 280Z with 69K miles on it for $3500 I have probably spent another....$15-$20K on it.
  24. Awesome! I need to get over there someday. It has NOTHING to do with the girls. yeah right
