  1. Conrad Hilton's words of wisdom were "Be sure to keep the the shower curtain inside the tub". My Dad always told me, pertaining to my choice of friends, "The more you mess with shi*, the more you will stink".
  2. Contact the Autometer tech department. I did and found them to be very helpful.
  3. Quote:"What cars have 3.90's in it?" 1980 ZX MT 2+2 1981,82,83 coupe ZX MT Your 1974 260 has the r180 differential. Do a search to find tons of information about installing the r200 in it.
  4. Your particular application would determine the required ratio. Drag racers normally run lower ratios in order to be "wound up" at the end of the track. Road racers with high hp, na setups or turbo engines can benefit from higher ratios (3.7, 3.54 3.??). I'm getting good results with a 3:54. The tall ratio allows more time for the turbo to stay spooled up. For street applications where gas mileage is a factor, the higher gear sets would help but you may suffer with less "instant on" power when you put the right foot on the floor.
  5. QUOTE:"hell you can buy a whole turbo car for $500" If this statement is ture, I'll take as many as you can deliver to me!
  6. QUOTE:"we've noticed that our motor gets way too hot under idle for more than 5 to ten minutes." As mentioned above, the head gasket and/or the timing cover could be causing the oil in your coolant, if in fact the "brownish" coolant you described, has oil in it and not funk from the radiator. How did you flush your cooling system? Did you us a proper chemical? Also, poor flow, resulting from a bad water pump could be causing the overheating problem.
  7. QUOTE:"Alrighty sounds like I need to get my hands on an NA pump, should of done that from the start." Replacing the pump is a pain in the a** but sourcing some fittings to connect the two hose ends is a piece of cake. It's your choice.
  8. You can still get new ones from Nissan. All they require is money!
  9. You can replace the power steering pump with one from an NA car or connect the lines together at the HICAS. As stated, the replacement kit should have the parts to reconnect the lines.
  10. Lokar make universal throttle cable set ups that will work. They have different ends that can be adapted to your throttle body and the accelerator pedal. Search the web for more info and suppliers.
  11. Short of a new magic trick, there us no whey to cure your broken exhaust stud problem except to remove it and then replace it. It can be done with the head in place but you will need to know what you are doing.
  12. Reprint From Racer Magazine Online: Felipe Massa has been airlifted to a nearby hospital in a “stable†condition following his big accident in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Brazilian’s car was struck by debris on the run into Turn 4, possibly from Rubens Barrichello’s car, and his car plunged straight off the track at full throttle and head first into the wall. Massa was removed from the car and taken to the track’s medical center, before being flown by helicopter. Television footage showed that was he was moving after the accident. An FIA spokeswoman confirmed that Massa was in a “stable†condition but there were no further details about the extent of any injuries.
  13. James, It's good to hear from you again and I'm looking forward to seeing posts of your new project. I have one of your intakes that was never installed. It's a nice piece!
  14. Barber Motorsports Park is on I20 east of Bermingham which is about 100 mile from you. Barber is a premier road course track and has one of the finest collection of two wheel machines on the planet. I have been to many of the better road courses in the Southeast and Barber is absolutely impressive and well worth a visit.
  15. QUOTE:" MY question to everyone is. with all the money you have put into your datsun to make it the way you want it, do you feel it was worth the time and money instead of picking a difforent brand?" IMHO, All cars are a bad investment. Gearheads play with cars because they can and they enjoy it. You can stay at home and watch tv or read a book on the cheep or you can do what turns you on. My advice to you, "If it feels good, go for it".
  16. I had an almost identical experience two years ago. I was alone, it was very late, the pain became unbearable and I drove myself to the ER. After several morphine injections and the passing of four hours, I was too wrecked and could no longer stand to attempt to pass the stone. I gladly allowed the nurse to install a catheter and the stone passed through. Man, what a trip! Way too much pain!
  17. Austin, I haven't seen your car since we were at the wind test and I know the quality of your work is excellent. I really like your new addition and hope to bee it in person one day. Another fine z car rides again! Later, Tom.
  18. I've been running a Tech3r system for several years now and I'm still a long way from knowing much. I use a "D" type throttle position sensor and due to my latest throttle body installation and improper alignment of the TPS, I now need to replace it. Do I need to pay the Electromotive $100.00 price for the factory TPS part # 310-71340 or are there less expensive "D" style sensors available that another car uses? Where can I get the better deal? Thanks in advance for any advice. mayolives@aol.com
  19. Remove the radio and speakers. Toss them in the recycle bin. You will help save the Earth, reduce weight to get better gas milage and be able to hear the sweet music of the L6.
  20. Apparently you are new to our site so I'm will cut you some slack and be nice. There are many quality clutches made by various manufacturers that are intended for different applications like street, drag and etc. There is no "best". The choice is always based on your particular application. The very least expensive would probably come from your local auto parts store but you can never go wrong, for a street, stock application if your order your parts from a Nissan dealer. Do a little searching and your will find that Courtesy Nissan and some other Nissan dealers will offer a discount to z club members. When replacing a clutch that has probably been in the car for a long time, I would recommend doing it right by replacing the clutch plate, pressure plate and through-out bearing. If you need technical advice to do the job, search first and ask questions thereafter and you will be on the best track.
  21. Mark, The car belongs to Biain Williams and will show up at CMP soon. The stroker has a bunch of high dollar parts, a new gear box and will make big power. After sorting out the suspension and brake details he should be a force to be reckoned with.
  22. Here are a couple of pictures of my buddy's new track car project. The quality of the workmanship is first class from top to bottom and from front to rear. More detailed info to follow.
  23. Johnc's advice is,( Try to figure out why he puts those "other" projects in front of yours). is the better course of action. I've been around for a long time and have had my share of situations that needed improvement. Tossing money at problems normally will not make them go away.
  24. Roddy at SDI is a very talented fabricator but is very "hush" about his aero mods due to the small group of other similar z cars that try to stay in front of each other when they get together at Southern road courses like, VIR, CMP, Road Atlanta, Roebling, etc. All in good fun of course, but none the less, we all like to be "up there". I for one have been chasing him for years.
