Fantastic work and progress. What fuel cell do you have there and what gallon is it?

I cannot comment on the RB family (love em though), as I do not have one so never tried to source parts, but my experiences with my 2jzgte thus far has been super easy to find parts. You can get (oil/water pumps, head gasket, timing belt, etc) all from the Toyota dealerships, Napa, Pep Boys, advance auto or the multitude of aftermarket companies. As you well know both engines are very capable of the power figures you seek, each with pros and cons. The 2jz has an intake manifold more than able to deliver your power goals so no need to add the cost of a custom one, as well as no need for upgraded internals. I purchased my 2jzgte/auto trans from an Aristo, from JDM engine Pro of La Habra last Febuary for $2600 out the door picked up with having them remove the auto trans and discard. I believe it was JMortenson who stated in another thread, " Choosing an engine is a personal choice" or something along the lines of that. Good luck whichever path you decide to go down.

Not sure if you are still looking for one or not but just saw this on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-2-2-/301678318737?forcerrptr=true&hash=item463d6dd491&item=301678318737

Contemplating a 240z 2jzgte swap (whats the cost?)
Nelsonian replied to FameTPre's topic in Toyota L6 Forum
That is Tech2's incorrect picture they use to represent the S30 kit, (trans mount is different). I spoke with Carlos about the incorrect photo used as well as no photos representing their radiators and inter coolers, but I don't see any movement on their part to work on their website. I will include this thread with proper pictures of the correct kit. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/121940-1jz-gte-swap-kit-tech2/ Their kit uses a secondary cross member which requires the rear sump oil pan. I am just trying to mention every possible thing for different setups to give you a mostly complete idea of parts needed and costs. Like you my restomod, rebuild has been farmed out for certain parts that I was not able to achieve by either lack of garage, skill or time. I have had little opportunities here and there to do what I can with the build, but mostly had other professionals help along the way. Sorry for a little thread jack here, but if you want to see my loooong build process (http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/94814-nelsonian-240z/page-2) . -
Contemplating a 240z 2jzgte swap (whats the cost?)

Didn't have enough time to finish my thoughts before heading out the door to work this morning. If you are planning on going with a single turbo set up and upping power or using alternative fuel, keep in mind the stock (US) injectors are 550 side feed, low impendance with the stock computer. I am not sure the availability of higher cc, low impendance injectors, but there are plenty of high impendance options which will require by passing the stock oem resister pack if you don't plan on running an aftermarket stand alone ecu. -
Austin had mentioned before the nuisance of even morning dew or condensation that would roll off of the roof and into the open window. I considered removing the rails for clean look, but took heed of his warnings and experiences.

I think your engine and trans prices are a little off. If you are planning on buying a 2jzgte from an engine importer, it will most lekely be from an Aristo with a front sump oil pan and an automatic trans and usually start at around $2600ish -3k with the 30 day start up warranty. If you plan on using the Tech2 mounting kit you will need to get a rear sump oil pan from an sc300 either on ebay, craigslist or local junk yard = ??? $$$. You will either be faced with sourcing an R154 trans ( average market value $800 low end to $1200 high) when and if you come across one, or $5000 + for the Getrag 6 speed, or other 350z with custom adaptor mount = ?? $$.If you use the R154 trans you will need a 1/2 jz bellhousing $300-350. The clutch will be another expense. After buying the engine will you replace any of the few failure prone compnents, (timing belt tensioner bracket, timing gear, oil pump)?? or in general preventative part replacement as in timing belt, water pump, etc... I took the approach of changing the oil/water pumps, new kevlar timing belt, billet alum pullies, ARP head studs, gaskets,o-rings and all the other failure prone parts which added a few thousand more to the cost. Are you planning on running the stock twins or converting to a single turbo as the exhaust manifold is cheap with questionable quality and durability or at best starting around $850 for Drift motion's and going up way more for other options. The single turbo depending on journal bearing or dual ball bearing will be another cost. Don't forget about venting the engine with a catch can either bought as a kit or home built which either way will have a cost as well. My suggestion would be to dig through some of the major companies to get an idea of prices of components such as ( Titan motorsports, Driftmotion, Powerhouse racing, Supra store, Doc racing etc...) I am by no way trying to discourage you, but rather mention as others here already have as to how quickly the bill can rise. -
^^^ I agree, it looks great! If you have any more pictures please add them to this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/80625-the-official-white-z-thread/page-13?hl=+official%20+white

Branden that is genius. I have been pondering over going the fuel cell route, (99% committed), and really like your approach to it. What fuel cell are you using and gallon size? metal or plastic?

Yeah, $700 won the auction with $72 shipping from Oregon to San Diego and $19 to ship him back my stock shifter cover and shift linkage arm. All under $800 for a new, only mocked up kit with the aluminum driveshaft to boot. No complaints here as that would have been over $2k with tax and shipping brand new.

Any nice interior bits made for s30
Nelsonian replied to 1vicissitude's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
The only things you will find somewhat like what you pointed out will be custom made. I am having interior bits made by Time machine Racecraft for my custom modded dash and console. I eventually will have custom knobs for the heat/vent and trim ring for the shift arm. I have been inspired by many of the custom knobs and such found in TVR's T350. Here is a start to what Tho from Time Machine Racecraft has made for me so far. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/94814-nelsonian-240z/page-2 And a link to some of TVR's custom interior goodies: -
The door panels look fantastic! Anything new happening with the clam shells ?

Just wanted to state that if anyone is considering the Tech 2 mount kit be forewarned that the picture of their swap kit for the 240/280z is actually for another make of car. This picture included, shows the proper kit, (with the optional aluminum driveshaft). I just checked with Carlos of Tech 2 to have confirmation that what I purchased from the individual Ebay seller was actually for the 240z as it was different from the web site's picture. This is a bit annoying for any potential consumer to have to dig for proper pictures and info on a web site that is all out of whack. First pic is their Wrong provided pic for the 240/280z kit. The one I provided above is correct.

A week and a half ago a fellow member brought it to my attention of a great opportunity on Ebay for one of these Tech 2 swap kits. I got lucky and sniped this kit with ten seconds to go for a steal. I am very pleased with the quality of this kit by just inspecting it. One less piece to mark off of the "to get list" .

Contact Tho Chung of Time Machine Racecraft in Vista. When it comes to welding and fabrication, he is an artist. http://www.timemachineracecraft.com/

Bludestiny, There is a difference from series 1 to the later consoles, particularly in the cigarette lighter/ash tray of the early version versus the fuse panel of the later series. I have a '73 with a metal plate hard mounted to the trans tunnel to fit the later style console. The series 1 has a different width and length to the later.

S30dsminside, Curios as to how you mated the 4G to an R154
