  1. I'm running a felpro with my flattop/e88 combo and haven't had a problem. Seriously pyro is right if this isn't some crazy race engine, in which case you would get a hks or kamieari metal head gasket(motorsport auto has the kameari one I think). On a stock engine you won't be able to tell the difference between a felpro or a mhg unless something else is engineered improperly and you overheat or detonate. Measure once and all that... Just searched and they have the Nismo .6mm one if you're crazy.
  2. Well it was sort of an intro but your question is in the right place. Start checking and cleaning every connection under the hood. Did the PO tell you that he unplugged anything? Also as with any car drain and replace the fluids
  3. I love my 2+2, even though I don't have rear seats in mine. Looks sharper than the coupe.
  4. The fact is has TTops ruins the entire look of the kit. Super fail.
  5. depends where you bring it and what you ask them to do. A simple 1 layer coat at a one day paint shop shouldn't be that much providing you bring them the paint. If you ask them to do 3 coats plus wet sanding out the perfections (which you could do at home) you looking at a much more thorough paint job. If you do bring them the car though, make sure they come out and look at the work you've done/the car itself. If they just glance at it and give you a quote get out of there. No real paint shop would accept a job without looking over the car.
  6. you can also run diesel oil in your engine to clean it
  7. so.....what car is this for? what mods have you done? when did it start? and like a thousand more questions since you don't describe anything
  8. Many people have run the P79 in a turbo set up with the liners. Check the turbo forums here. If you are on stock boost you will be fine
  9. Are any of your new connections grounding? that would cause it to burn
  10. I am running an e88 head with an F54 flattop block. I have an aggressive cam (.495 lift 290 duration) and I use 91. I think the CR is like a 10:1. Timing is also retarded just a bit and I have 40 webers
  11. if they catch you with no cat thats an autofail and a fat fix it/pollution ticket.
  12. You can run 10psi on everything stock. read up in the turbo forums how. I believe the stock injectors are good up to like 250-300hp range. IIRC They are the first limiting factor in making power with boost,
  13. Those look like some pretty mean tires. I use Khumo Ecsta XS and they grip pretty darn good. Also you could go with a 265/45 tire and it would look less popped out(not by much). They are also light load tires and I've had no problems with them. Why don't you just go with the R888's if you want a performance tire? You talk about not pushing the performance in wet conditions and in the next post you say they have the best wet performance???
  14. If you have no experience removing and replacing pistons in an engine, it would be easier and less time consuming to just drop in a long block. If is doesn't smoke bad(lightly smoke on accel and stuff) you can drive it like that for years, just keep your eye on the oil level.
  15. read the L6 forums on here. Tons of info for cams, intake options, exhaust....
  16. the 260z has a way better set up interiorly speaking. my only complain is that when looking up info, obviously there is more info pertaining to 240's and 280's. You just need to search more, dig deeper and never give up. I love my 260z
  17. I have the cupholder armrest for a 280zx and the only thing I hate is the small size for drinks.
  18. so....that's good.....You sound like you don't want to make that much hp/tq???
  19. nice find. You will get frustrated with the 260z since it has a bunch of quirks, as I have, but I still love it.
  20. Hmm I was looking in the engine electrical and maybe that's why I didn't find anything like it for the emergency switch. Edit: I just discovered I had a true wiring diagram in the back of my fsm. Damn I'm a dumbA**
  21. I know this is a pretty lame thread that is almost entirely based off my lack of interest in the electrical system of my bastard 260z car, but I'm not sure about 2 of these. But since I'm doing it, other people can chime in with parts they have no idea what they are. This may be a horrible idea too but who knows The red is fusible links for I think Ignition and something that escapes my memory, the Blue circle is my external voltage regulator that is going to be removed once I hook up my 280zx turbo alt Have no idea what this is, I think it's the charging relay I have no idea what this is
  22. zcarnut, read your writeup and it described my system perfectly, so I'm going with your's and a little ingenuity when I tackle this beast tomorrow.
  23. Moltar that's an awesome idea, but I think he wants to either break even or pay very little. You can probably find a set of roundtop SU's for $150 (that's how much I sold my set for complete with linkage and intake) from a member here, and then flip your carbs for that price(if not more since they are rebuilt). Or you can find some hitachi flattops, like you want, for probably dirt cheap.
