Nice so far, Now if you havent lowered the required fuel setting you need o do that. Since your injectors are larger than the stock turbo injectors. If your using a stock fuel table you need to lower the fuel in your fuel bins. Should help running rich condition.

Do you have the Toyota setup already??... Im just about ready to do my 2J Swap.
-
I have a decent looking polished, Non turbo valve cover i can send with the engine also. Happy New Years to you also.
-
Look at my add Carefully, It is a REBUILT 1983 L28 n/a Engine. From an 83 280zx.. I just added turbo parts to the N/A Engine. All your 280z engine parts will bolt right to it. All you have to do is swap out the Turbo Dist and Oil pump drive gear with the one from your daughters engine. Bang bang her car is up and running again. The engines are direct swaps.

I have a rebuilt 83 L28 for sale in the classifieds. $750 Shipped or best offer. It costs $260 to ship an engine on a pallet.

seattlejester's 1971 240Z
dexter72 replied to seattlejester's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Could you make mounts, so it attaches at the steering column cover and the front of the dash.. Make the tablet mounts detachable so you can take the tablet with you, where ever you go. Is that the Shadow dash ??... -
Look for peoples tunes that are close to how your engine is set up, copy them and compare the settings and tables to yours. I wouldn't do anything else until you can get the engine to idle well and on its own. Look on youtube for Cygnus megasquirt settings, he posted a video of his settings there, download that video. If you don't have a wideband get yourself one asap. If you have a wideband remove the sensor until you can get the engine idling and running smooth at idle. You can ruin the senor if you don't. What is your setup??. Stock engine and injectors, Turbo, with which c.c. injectors, non-turbo, fuel only, and so on.

Those engines look really good in an S30. A member had one in his z. Have you seen the pics of it ??... Take lots of pics while building and before breaking it down, build threads are Killer. Good luck and as was suggested earlier, try to get the engine in, wired up, and running before pbreaking it down for paint.

Never say Never, I loved S30's when i was a kid but i used to build 70's Chevys all the time when i lived in Maryland, I moved to AZ 16 years ago and looked for a another Chevy to build, No dice they were way too expensive out here. Found a 280zx in the back of a car lot for $500 bucks in 2002, wasnt running. I said to call me when you have it running and i will buy it for $600. Went back a week later and bought it, took a side street home and Baam, a 260z for sale sitting in someones yard. Bought it for $200 bucks that same week. Moral of the story, Cars can be just a wrong turn, side street or back lot away.

Are you using the drive by wire pedal set up??.. The Electronic throttle bodies have to do an idle air volume learn. Thats if your using one.

Make sure that the tank isnt causing the debri. Safer to check whether it was re-coated or not. The filters should have caught the crap, I would install a clear/glass filter to see what the crap is. After checking everything, Strain the gas through paint strainers, Pantyhose. Leggings. Put the gas in another car you have if you don't trust it.

How are you liking the car so for??.. I was working as a tech at a toyota dealership when these cars came out. I had to drive one around because Quote unquote, ( The exhaust was smoking, when it was pulled off the delivery truck) . Lol Ummmm ok sure ill drive it for 20 minutes to make sure everything is ok. I smiled from the time i hit the gas until the end of that day. 6spd Model, It pulled really hard from 2nd to 4th. Used to have to fix WCW n WWF Wrestler Lex Lugers girlfriends Turbo Supra every month, She would drive it into a ditch or blow one of the rear tires out every month. I told him, you know your coming to see me more than i see you on t.v. Lol And no, he didnt slam or suplex me.

I will be doing this swap soon, Mine is with a 2JZGE Engine and adding a turbo to it. Your Megasquirt options that i know of: Megasquirt 2 is setup to read a 36-1 wheel out of the box. So i am going to use a 36-1 crank trigger wheel bolted to my crank pulley/harmonic balancer. sensor, Ford EDIS 6 box and ford coil pack. I dont want to solder anything into my Megasquirt box, its been working great for 7 years, no need to mess it up. You can solder coil drivers and or ignitors into your megasquirt box and then download the latest firmware to get you going for a coil on plug setup. Ms3 will read everything, all the 2JZG Distributor and 2JZGTE cam/crank sensors, i think they are 24-1 or 24-2 Hope that helps you out. Also join clublexus. Browse the SC300/400 performance section tons of info to help us out. I have been reviewing posts for a few months now.

Looks like your almost all the way in that garage now. Are your parents easing up on your build restrictions ??.. jk Glad you kept the car and are still redoing it. I helped you out with a couple of things right before you went Megasquirt, You were still doing airplane seat time then. Still have my Z also, gonna 2jz swap it soon. -
$20.00 donation gets you going.

5 speed swap underway, how much should I replace?
dexter72 replied to XplosiveLugnut's topic in Drivetrain
For the flywheel, if you look closely you should be able to see the spots where the starter was grinding on the teeth. If you find any, I would look for a good flywheel, because any grinding may lead to more frequent grinding, not a good sign. I vote yes on replacing the rear engine seal, whenever i replace a clutch i always replace the rear engine seal.- 2 replies

Some feedback for my planning please l28et
dexter72 replied to Straight_L28's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
If it were me i would use: L28et engine, Stock headgasket, Ported head, Larger valves are up to you, Forged internals are not needed unless your going for crazy horsepower, T3/T4 turbo 57trim or larger. Megasquirt, You need a wastegate, Wideband setup, 440cc Supra injectors, 3'' front pipe and exhaust system, 3.54 or 3.70 Lsd rear diff. or another type of Lsd. I turbo'd my N/A L28, Enjoy it. But now its time for me to do what i always wanted to do. 2jz in my Z, Not looking for crazy horsepower just wanted to do this swap for 5 years now. -
I will be removing my NA-T engine and trans setup next month. Doing a different swap so wont be needing the engine or trans. Ill PM You. I can ship it.

Check to see which fuses blew and what part they control. Check how you wire up the fuses and relay box for M.S.??. You may be checking the relays for those circuits also. Good luck and keep us up to date.

Hmmm, What manifold are you using for starters???.... If the engine is knocking you may have bent a rod, especially if the engine hydro locked. Coolant cannot be compressed so another part has to bend/break usually rods. My first thoughts are did you install the intake gaskets correctly??... Does the intake manifold have a crack in it??.. Are the headgaskets on correctly??.. Did you install rubber/cork gaskets at the front and back of the intake manifold?? Or did you use sealant in those two spots??... Have you checked the heads and block for warpage at anytime before putting the engine together??... Were the heads ever milled ??.... Just some thoughts

Yes, Maxima from 95-2001, Throttle cable also. Do some searching on Maxima.org should show some other parts you can swap over if needed.
-
You should be able to use the 95-2001 VQ30 throttle body and tps. I had looked into swapping a VQ35 into my 97 maxima years ago. Remembered reading that you can use the vq30 throttle body.
