  1. Those look awesome Litman! Topnotch look
  2. Nice! Is that a big flame in the engine compartment at :23?
  3. Awesome! Watch out once the boost bug bites you'll always want a little more.
  4. Can you weld a lift pad under your cage uprights where they tie into the floor? I haven't honestly had my car up in the air yet due time constraints and work. I think bad dog makes a weld in jack pad, should be a simple fab project though. Reinforce the floor somewhere near a structural cross member or frame rail with a thicker piece of plate or box to spread the load across a larger area than the lift pad, and BAM, now you have a quick reference for your lift point at the track as well Edit: found the bad dog single point jack pads: http://baddogparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_4&products_id=3&zenid=4b9a466dcb549c1891f0dbd2896e19ca
  5. Lifting on pinch welds usually equals bent pinch weld seams. If you think about it there really isn't any surface area to support the load.
  6. Loving the look of the black manifold! One of these days I'm down in the SLC area I'm going to have to take a look at this monster. Nice build and please keep the pics coming.
  7. I believe they are using the cd009 as it is the popular manual swap for the vk56. I have yet to see any other manuals adapted, and only one adapter in an eBay listing that claimed a Chevy pattern.
  8. Awesome progress! Can't wait to hear this run, love Nissan v8 power!!!
  9. I've worked with a few different brands of four post lifts, I would take John's advice and stay away from the center jacks. Even a stock height Honda, or a supercharged Pontiac Grand Prix can get hung up on those stupid jacks if they have custom exhausts. Plus they are always blocking something in the middle of the lift when you walk under there to work, so you have to slide the heavy thing out of the way and remember not to hit your head. Just my two cents...
  10. Propane torch or map gas would be fine for heating aluminum. Grill would heat the whole part more evenly though.
  11. Check the albums, it's there, just not really emphasized like their daily grind of tech and fab.
  12. Or pick one up from Courtesy Nissan Parts brand new for $1762.23 + tax. Haven't looked into the difference between the sport package and standard package transmissions, but they are the same price, just different part numbers. http://www.courtesyparts.com/auto-parts/2010/nissan/370z/base-trim/3-7l-v6-gas-engine/manual-transmission-cat/manual-transmission-scat Still looks like more economical price tag than the T56 of unknown mileage, especially where it seems most take outs need a rebuild.
  13. Love the supercharger and intercooler ideas. I've been looking into the laminova idea as well to put a m122 onto a Nissan vk56de. I hadn't thought of blowing sideways to the ports, interested to see how it works for you. I have a wider valley but can't go down from the cylinder head mounting flange due to a valley mounted starter and coolant pipes. Not 100% sure on my vertical as I forgot to measure the engine height when I had it sitting between the rails last.
  14. Would any of these work? They list a few at .03 and thinner panel thickness. Towards the bottom of the page there are some liquid tight ones. http://www.mcmaster.com/#push-in-panel-plugs/=10a1ck6
  15. Check the last line of this post, believe this is Derek's target...
  16. Sounds like we should all put together sometime of a lunch meet and greet over the holiday break. My project as far as body work for the moment is under a tarp out front, had to pull a bunch of stuff down of the garage shelves and it takes up about half the garage space Couldn't justify making my wife park outside when she has to drive the kids to school every morning a couple hours after I leave for work. When you get those bad dog rails out I'd like to take a peak at them as well.
  17. Sweet, I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say.
  18. I haven't checked JE yet, Racetec was about the same as Wiseco, CP was $1650. Car is currently it side under a tarp, but the engine is in the garage. Did some research and cylinder liners are only 2.6mm thick, so I'm going to try to stay standard 98mm. Very tempted to pick up an m122 as they are around $300 now that TVS are becoming more available. There was a stage 2 ported unit on KSL last week for $250.... Whenever you want to come by just let me know, I don't work Fridays and am usually home every night after about 5
  19. how about a CD009 from the 06+ Nissan 350/370z? IIRC Collins adapters has a kit to put it on an LS block. Might also look into a z31/32 5 speed box, they seem to hold up alright behind the turbo'd vh45s and several other swaps in the 300+ range. ++++ I think a new cd009 from courtesy nissan parts is something like $1700, just make sure to get the 06+ transmission if you go used as it has better synchros.
  20. So I've e-mailed Nick at 5523 Motorsports a few times discussing my options on pistons and rods over the past month or so, also spent time double checking my crank journal diameters for peace of mind. The rod journals are perfect at 2.0999-2.1000 on every journal, the mains appear to be 2.5165 which seems off, need to get a more accurate micrometer/caliper to check these as Nissan is spec'd at .001mm or .0001 in and my current tools only go down to .01mm or .0005in. On a good note though I spent a considerable amount of time measuring one bank of the engine (RH side, even cylinders) as I couldn't find my paper with previous measurements and along the depth of the bore my biggest variance is .03mm on two of the cylinders, one of which is the #4 hole that had the spun bearing, no surprises there. As far as out of round my biggest difference has been .02mm for 98.02 to 98.04 so I think at this point it is getting pretty safe to say that somem standard bore forged pistons should work nicely. Coincidentally ImportPerformanceParts.net is showing and overstock sale on Wiseco VK56DE standard bore 10:1 pistons right now.... Just have to decide if having a custom piston made is worth the cost or pay for some BCrower forged rods at about the same price as what pistons to fit off the shelf Chevy LS rod lengths will cost. I'm either about $750 for the wiseco pistons and another 850 for forged BC rods, or I've had a quote for about $800 for custom pistons to suit the CH of using a longer LS off the shelf rod at $400-600 a set depending on rod bolts and length. Leaning more towards the custom pistons and a Molnar Technologies 6.125 or 6.200 rod for a little higher rod to stroke ratio at the moment. Guess the wallet and time will only tell. /
